Cavaliers Leave No Chance To Wizards In Game Two

Tommy BalcetisApr 22, 2008

"We want the Cavaliers as our playoff match-up." OK, Gilbert, bring it on.

The Cavs unloaded for a 30 point victory over the Wizards on Monday. Not only does this win put the Cavs at a 2-0 advantage in the first round of the playoff series, but it also makes a strong statement that the Cavs are a team to beat in the East.

Mr. James nearly missed a triple double performance with his 30pts 12 assists and 9 rebs contribution to this important win. Big Z added 16pts and 9 rebs and Wally (my pleas were not in vain after all) had a solid 15pts with 67% shooting from the field. That's what the team needs needs if it wants to go deep into the post-season.

New NBA Mock Draft 📝

The Wizards' performance was a train wreck, starting with Brendan Haywood's unsportsmanlike flagrant foul sending the King off his throne down to the gym floor, ending with an abysmal performance by Gilbert with 2-10 shooting from the field. The Wizards shot 19% from behind the three-point line. They might as well have tried to kick the ball into the basket, I'm sure the percentage wouldn't be too different.

Caron Butler, Darius Songaila and DeShawn Stevenson (you have to love the signature hand waggle in front of his face, especially when his team is down by 20 points) each had 12 points in the losing effort. Antawn Jamison was held to 10 with 4-13 shooting from the field.

It is not over, however. With the series shifting to our nation's capital, the Wizards will pull themselves together in an effort to redeem themselves in front of their home crowd. There is no favorite in this match-up, especially when grudges and personal rivalries come into place. Hey, that's what makes this series even more exciting.

And no, the winner of this battle will not be quickly shot down by Boston. You just wait. Boston is in for a tough stretch after they send the Hawks packing.
