Kansas 77, Iowa State 70
No. 15 Kansas asserted their authority on the road in Big 12 play with a big win over No. 8 Iowa State thanks to their two star freshmen and an experienced point guard.
The one freshman that stood out the most was Joel Embiid, who was a menace on both ends of the court.
Embiid recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds while forcing the Cyclones shooters to take uncomfortable looks due to his length.
The other super youngster, Andrew Wiggins, scored 17 of his own while contributing 19 rebounds, a new career-high.
The other breakout star of the night was Naadir Tharpe, who did not miss a single field goal in the first half on his way to scoring 23 points.
Iowa State kept chipping away at the Kansas lead all night, but they could not make the final charge that was required to take down the Jayhawks.
In the loss, the Cyclones shot a terrible 4-for-24 from three-point range.
Despite falling short, the hosts did receive a quality performance from DeAndre Kane, who scored a team-high 21 points.
