Arsenal scored two quick goals in succession to take an early lead against Aston Villa.
Jack Wilshere opened the scoring at Villa Park in the 34th minute when Nacho Monreal surged up the left flank and crossed perfectly for the England man, who finished coolly with his left foot.
Less than a minute later, Olivier Giroud doubled the visitors' lead, and this time Wilshere was the provider. Wilshere found the Frenchman, who evaded two of his marks and slotted home.
Villa pulled one back in the 76th minute to give the hosts a fighting chance when Christian Benteke finished a diving header to end an 11-match Premier League scoring drought.
Arsenal held on the rest of the way, to earn a crucial three points and move back to the top of the table with the 2-1 victory.
