I think that the Bulls can be a very good team next season. However, I also think they need a veteran player to help put the team over the top.
Derrick Rose can be one of the best point guards in the NBA, but he still need some help before Chicago can think about a deep playoff run.
With that in mind, here's a look at five things the Bulls need to do this offseason.
Brad Miller is a veteran big man in this league. After the trade to acquire Miller and John Salmons, Joakim Noah and Tyrus Thomas developed into great players. Miller had a big part in that.
He is a great teacher. They need to keep him around to help develop the younger big men on the team.
Kirk Hinrich is a very good backup who would probably start on many other teams. He played very well after his injury and also helped Derek Rose improve.
Rose learned from Hinrich, and both were heavy contributors during their playoff run. If they don't get Ben Gordon back, then you might see Hinrich playing shooting guard.
The Chicago Bulls don't have the best backups in the world. They need some more players to back up their future stars.
They have Linton Johnson, Luol Deng, Anthony Robertson, Tyrus Thomas, Aaron Gray and Tim Thomas. There aren't a lot of great players in that group, and I think that they will have to improve in this area through trades or the draft.
Ben Gordon has been one of the superstars on this team since the "Baby Bulls" came to be. Gordon has been a dominant scorer, and I think that if the Bulls can find a way to keep him, then they can go far in the playoffs. His scoring touch is vital for a young Bulls squad.
Chris Bosh is one of the best "big man" players in the NBA. He would fit very nicely in Chicago, and I think that they could make a reasonable trade for him.
Bulls get: Chris Bosh and Jason Kapono
Raptors get: Luol Deng, 16th pick, and 26th pick in draft
I think that they could also make this trade with Ben Gordon, if they needed to, as well.
