Red Sox Send Angels Back to Heaven
Tonight the Boston Red Sox went up against the Los Angeles Angels, who they had not encountered since the Sox swept them in the ALDS.
Beckett, who was set to face off against the Angels on Tuesday night was unavailable due to a stiff neck, causing David Pauley to fill in for him.
Lugo's RBI single in the fourth brought the score to 5-2. Trailing by three runs in the fifth inning, Pedroia scored off of Ortiz and Youkilis hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the inning to tie the game 5-5.
However, Elsbury was tonight's ace, as he hit two home runs, one of which was Boston's first at-bat of the game and then he proceeded to score the winning run off of Pedroia's third double of the night.
In the top of the ninth, Papelbon relieved Timlin and successfully struck out all three batters earning his eighth save of the season and giving the Red Sox a 7-6 win.
The Red Sox/Angels series continues Wednesday night at Fenway as the BoSox continue their plot to send the Angels back to Heaven.
