Throws don't get much better than this.

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton put the ball in the perfect spot for receiver Steve Smith, who got just enough separation from the San Francisco 49ers defender for the 31-yard touchdown.

What a perfect throw.

In case anyone was wondering, Smith says his knee is fine:

After failing to convert a 4th-and-goal from the 1-yard line to start the second quarter, the Panthers defense forced a three-and-out on the 49ers' next drive. Ted Ginn set the Panthers up with great field position with a 24-yard punt return.

The touchdown gave Carolina a 7-6 lead over the 49ers early in the second quarter.
