The No. 20 Iowa Hawkeyes finally got their signature win on Sunday afternoon, going into Columbus and knocking off the No. 3 Ohio State Buckeyes, 84-74. The win improves the Hawkeyes to 3-1 in the Big Ten.
Iowa got a monster game from star guard Roy Devyn Marble, who finished with 22 points, four rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks. He got plenty of help down low, especially from PF Aaron White (19 points, six boards).
The Buckeyes' scoring, surprisingly, was mostly from the frontcourt, with LaQuinton Ross and Amir Williams combining for 33 points. However, that same frontcourt got bashed on the glass, as Iowa won the rebounding battle by a 40-31 margin.
The loss is OSU's second straight, both against ranked Big Ten foes. That's hardly the streak they were hoping for as they go on the road against Minnesota and Nebraska coming up.
Iowa, meanwhile, has a week to celebrate its big win before facing Minnesota in Iowa City. The Hawkeyes stand in third place in the conference, trailing only 4-0 Michigan State and 3-0 Wisconsin and Michigan.
