Chelsea Transfer News: Analysing Jose Mourinho's Comments After Matchday 21

After another match-winning performance from Chelsea’s mercurial Belgian Eden Hazard, his manager, Jose Mourinho, had plenty to say.

The Portuguese boss was quizzed on reported interest in his star man from Paris Saint-Germain and rebuffed any notion that the Stamford Bridge club are looking to cash in on his wonderful talent, according to Danny McCann in the Mirror:

The club doesn't want to sell him. Obviously the manager has that decision. Every manager wants players like him. I cannot put too much pressure on him to be man of the match every game or be the guy who opens the scoring.

Rumours surfaced that Hazard might be privy to a move to the French champions after it was reported by Parisian newspaper Le Parisien that Hazard told one of his teammates that he “will be definitely be joining Paris next summer,” via Ed Maylon in the Mirror.

PSG are one of the few clubs in world football that could potentially bankroll a deal for the Chelsea wide man, who would surely command an astronomical transfer fee given his sparkling form, age and the amount the Stamford Bridge club shelled out to bring him to London.

Hazard is the type of player PSG arguably require to complete their star-studded attacking lineup. They have two magnificent forwards in Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani, but they have little in terms of genuine wide players.

The Belgian would offer an entirely different type of threat going forward for the Parisiens, and his capture would surely signal PSG’s intent as one of the premier sides in European football.

But you’d have to question any logic behind a Chelsea sale, as they are surely under no financial pressure to sell. Factor in Mourinho’s post-match comments, and you suspect that there won't be one.

Hazard had a stuttering start to this campaign, as Mourinho demanded a much more rounded style of play from the Belgian. Whilst in his first season at the club Hazard was given license to roam, Mourinho demands a much more stringent, disciplined type of player.

As we start 2014, though, Hazard looks like one of the best players in the Premier League. His work rate and defensive awareness has improved to no end, and going forward he is starting to do the business for Chelsea when it matters.

He has been awarded Man of the Match in his last three Chelsea appearances and has produced some stunning individual displays throughout the course of the campaign.

After picking up his latest gong, Hazard also spoke to the media and didn’t sound like a man who had his heart set elsewhere, via the Mirror's Danny McCann:

I am 23, I'm old, I understand things in football now and in training I've been giving my best.

I'm enjoying it here, I like this club and will keep going for a long time. We will see after February and March where we are, we are a young team.

Hazard looks to be blossoming into one of the top young talents in world football and a player around whom Mourinho seems to be building his team. The Belgian is the crown jewel in amongst Jose’s “new” Chelsea side, and you suspect he’ll be at Stamford Bridge for a long time yet.
