Winning big on the road over Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers, the San Francisco 49ers advance to the NFC Championship for the third year in a row.

For the Niners, it was a sluggish showing early with chippy play, unnecessary penalties and questionable play-calling. It looked very much like Carolina would give them a game. However, the 49ers channeled their magic in the second half, shutting out the Panthers and adding to their point total.

The offensive star of the game was easily workhorse receiver Anquan Boldin, who finished with eight grabs for 136 yards. The offense had almost nothing else in the air. San Francisco was also greatly aided by a big 39-yard rumble by tailback Frank Gore.

Next Sunday, the San Francisco 49ers will visit CenturyLink Field to face the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC title game to decide who represents the conference in Super Bowl XLVIII.
