So much for North Carolina only playing well against nationally ranked foes.
The Syracuse Orange took care of business in the Carrier Dome in the program’s first ever marquee ACC game by handling the Tar Heels to the tune of 57-45. C.J. Fair led the way with 20 points, while Jerami Grant tallied a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
As for North Carolina, the loss drops its record to 10-6 and 0-3 in conference play. Yes, there are a handful of truly impressive victories on the resume, but with so many questionable losses as well, every ACC defeat will hurt when its resume is brought up on Selection Sunday.
Next up for the Orange is a date with Boston College, while the Tar Heels will take their 0-3 ACC record back home to take on the Eagles as well on Jan. 18.
