Atletico Madrid and Barcelona are currently tied atop La Liga with 49 points.

While Gerardo Martino's men claim the No. 1 spot with a marginally superior goal difference, Diego Simeone's side have lost just one game this season, matching their upcoming opponent's excellent record in the domestic division.

It's time these two giants meet in a mouthwatering encounter at the Vicente Calderon. We decided to whet the appetite by simulating the Jan. 11 tie using FIFA 14 on Xbox One—but who will take the spoils?

Latest team news has been adhered to, while doubtful players such as Lionel Messi and Diego Godin have been included for your viewing pleasure. Can they make a difference? Let's find out.

Atletico Madrid vs. Barcelona: FIFA 14 Highlights

3'—Atletico straight on the attack down the right side as Barcelona is caught napping. Arda Turan plays a fine ball into Diego Costa, who times his run perfectly.

The Brazilian striker's first attempt is blocked by the onrushing head of Victor Valdes, while his second chip crashes off the post. Barca launch an immediate counter, but Pedro misses a simple chance. Could be 1-0 to either side already (please excuse the slight pause moment in this video)!

16'—The home side continues to dominate and sweep forward with confidence. Some brilliant play from Costa on the right sees the striker send a pinpoint ball to Turan in the box, who muscles Sergio Busquets to the floor and provides David Villa with a simple chance. The ex-Barca man scores!

26'—Martino's men put together a decent spell of dominance, and guess what? Little Leo makes the difference on his full return. Incisive play from Xavi culminates with the Spaniard playing a smart pass to Messi, who easily slots beyond Thibaut Courtois. Game on!

HALF-TIME: Atletico Madrid 1-1 Barcelona (Villa, Messi)

60'—Neymar finds space on the edge of the box, but he fires wide. A decent effort nonetheless.

81'—HUGE CHANCE FOR BARCA! Courtois halts Alex Song by coming off his line quickly. Although the ball drops to Pedro, the forward once again puts an easy chance wide. Courtois may have just rescued a point for Atleti.

89'—Courtois makes another important save as Messi tries to loft the ball over him from the edge of the six-yard box.

Barca is unable to alter the scoreline from the resulting corner, but the ball soon drops to Neymar, who misses the target from close range just as the final whistle blows. Tata's side really could have won this!

FULL-TIME: Atletico Madrid 1-1 Barcelona (Villa, Messi)

While both teams had chances, La Blaugrana's 67 percent possession and 13 opportunities on goal should have resulted in three points. Atletico only managed four attempts but will be extremely happy with the point.

At the time of writing, Skybet has this result priced at 13-2. Do you think it could come true? Let us know in the comments section below.
