Memphis 73, Louisville 67
The No. 24 Memphis Tigers were in need of a statement win in the American Athletic Conference and they got that in a rivalry game with No. 12 Louisville.
The two teams, whose rivalry dates back decades and a few conferences, played in a tight game throughout, but it was the free throw shooting of the Tigers that eventually prevailed.
Although they went 13-for-21 from the charity stripe, the Tigers hit nine of their last 10 free throws to sink the host Cardinals at the KFC Yum! Center.
The Cardinals received a stellar effort from Luke Hancock, who scored a team-high 20 points, but it was not enough to propel the hosts to the victory.
In the win, all five of Memphis' starters scored in double digits with Shaq Goodwin and Joe Jackson leading the way with 15 points each.
