Could this season get any worse for Manchester United fans?
David Moyes' struggling team have already lost to Swansea this year, succumbing to their Welsh opponents on Jan. 5 at Old Trafford, but can the Red Devils stop their losing run of three games to triumph in front of a nervy home crowd?
We asked FIFA 14 exactly that.
We've applied this week's official Matchday update released by EA Sports, ensuring both teams play true to form on the virtual pitch (*gulp*, United fans). The latest team news has also been added, according to the Premier League's official website (*double gulp*).
Manchester United vs. Swansea: FIFA 14 Highlights
20'—Both sides lack any conviction in the opening 20 minutes. Adnan Januzaj is the only player to have found space in the opposition's area, but he misses his step and and is unable to make contact with Antonio Valencia's cross.
30'—Just 15 minutes until halftime and it must be said, this is a terrible match. Terrible.
39'—Hallelujah! Finally! A bit of action at both ends of the pitch.
Wilfried Bony is called offside after Alejandro Pozuelo's volley bounces off the United defence. David De Gea starts a move which sees Januzaj brilliantly take down a ball on the left, but his cross is headed out by Ben Davies.
The ball drops to Javier Hernandez, but his soft header is easily saved by Gerhard Tremmel. Nemanja Vidic makes contact from the resulting corner, but he's under pressure and can't steer it toward goal.
HALF-TIME: Manchester United 0-0 Swansea
58'—Swansea have looked more dominant after the break and begin to play with confidence. Patrice Evra fails to clear a simple ball and sees possession fall to Bony, who excellently fires beyond De Gea. It's sloppy from the home side!
60'—United almost equalise immediately, but a massive opportunity goes begging for Moyes' men. Evra crosses into Danny Welbeck, who heads off the post from next to the penalty spot. Valencia is swarmed as he follows up and sees his shot bounce out for a corner.
69'—Shinji Kagawa replaces Hernandez in what appears to be a switch to "False 9" from Moyes. Remarkably, the Japanese international makes an instant difference and guides his header into the net. Evra sent in a fantastic ball, and just like that, United are level.
90'—The rest of the game passes without incident. Roland Lamah receives a difficult chance in the box, but his shot speeds wide, while Tremmel catches a simple Valencia header just as the final whistle sounds.
FULL-TIME: Manchester United 1-1 Swansea (Bony, Kagawa)
So, not the result either team was looking for, but United fans have got to be disappointed with the team's inability to win any of their last four matches. Will this result be replicated in real life?
At the time of writing, Skybet has set odds of 15-2 for the 1-1 draw. What do you think will happen? Be sure to let us know in the comments section below.
