January 9, 2014
The Washington Huskies (10-6, 2-1) hosted the Utah Utes (12-3, 1-2) in their Pac-12 home opener on Wednesday, Jan. 8. The Utes were hoping to win in Seattle for the second consecutive season but fell short as Washington hung on for a 59-57 win.
Despite 27 points from Delon Wright, Utah shot just 41.5% from the floor and 1-of-15 from beyond the arc.
Utah was down two with 10 seconds left but Wright missed a three-pointer as time expired.
Washington was led by guards C.J. Wilcox and Andrew Andrews. Wilcox entered the Pac-12 record books in the first half when he became just the 75th player to score at least 1,600 career points.
Both teams resume play Saturday when the Huskies play host to #15 Colorado and the Utes travel to Washington State.
