I was getting ready to write this article when I saw that Jake Long and Shaun Alexander both had important happenings that took place over this article, so I did what I could with that, then got back to this one.

The Ravens are a team that deserves the No. 1 pick more than the Dolphins do.  Maybe I just think this because the Dolphins beat them for their only win of the season.

They have plenty of problems offensively and defensively. (This should really be their strong suit.)

So what are they going to do with their pick at No. 8?

Possible Draft Directions

The Ravens NEED a QB.  Years of Kyle "I should have been a" Boller have created fear amongst fans when it comes to passing the ball.  Last season, Steve McNair didn't do much better either.

If Matt Ryan falls this far, it would be the perfect scenario for the Ravens.

They need OL help, and maybe in the second round they can get somebody. Jonathan Ogden is ready to retire, which leaves a huge void on the OL.

Their DL is also a place of need.  Sedrick Ellis would be a good pick if Ryan is off the board.

They have good corners with Chris McAlister and Samari Rolle, but both are starting to show signs of age.  McAlister is 30 and Rolle is 31.  Injuries have also been problems with both players.

Leodis McKelvin would be a good player to start the replacement process.

Well, those are the possibilities for the Ravens.

Look out for the Bengals on Thursday, I'm cutting this a little close.

  1. Lol. "Kyle "I should have been a" Boller"

    Nice.

    1. Chris Berman makes so many nicknames he's bound to get one right.

  2. I do not really believe that the Ravens would go with a DT like Sedrick Ellis just because they need D-Line help. Last year Trevor Pryce showed signs of aging; Kelly Gregg and Haloti Ngata have the middle tied up nicely (arguably both could have made the Pro Bowl). Of course Terrell Suggs will come to play off of one end. So I see a need opposite of Suggs at the other DE, and not in the middle. But Ozzie Newsome will take the best possible player, so Ellis may end up with the Ravens.
