It was a game that got away from the Celtics early. The Denver Nuggets were up by eight in the first quarter and led by 23 points at the half. The blowout kept getting bigger and the Nuggets ultimately registered their biggest win of the season in a 129-98 rout.
The Celtics didn’t seem to enjoy the beatdown and Sullinger isn’t the gentlest of players during the best of circumstances.
He picked up his first flagrant by taking down J.J. Hickson. Sullinger’s second flagrant was the result of an elbow to Kenneth Faried’s face.
And Jared Sullinger has now tied Miami's Mario Chalmers for NBA league in Flagrant points with 5 #celtics— gary washburn (@GwashburnGlobe) January 8, 2014
Denver Nuggets head coach Brian Shaw must have felt inspired—he too was tossed from the game after picking up a couple of quick technicals.
