Now that the Rams took care of their offense, their first round draft pick should be spent on defense. They need to address their defensive line by drafting either Chris Long or Glenn Dorsey.
By drafting this way it will help both the defense and offense.
It would help the defense because of the increased pressure on the quarterback thus causing miscues, like turnovers. It will also help the linebacking corps by giving them a chance to stop the run thus forcing their opponents to pass the ball.
For the offense, a better defense means better field position, and a decrease in the need for long passes. Cutting down on long passes means less quarterback sacks and less interceptions. The offense could then run the ball and give more rest to the defense.
The Rams will still have the later rounds to address further needs.

how did the rams take care of their offense. they wasted money on drew bennet
he gets the ball 3 times a game. our offenive line sucks and nothing is done about. We need a lineman. But since Jake Long is gone, we dont have another option.
i dont agree though. One guy wont help the whole defense as adam carriker proves

This team has several areas with problems. I explained the reasons why they should go with the defensive line. Also, they can draft an offensive lineman in the later rounds.

The pick will be Chris Long.
They won't go offense, as you nicely explained. The reason they don't go with Dorsey is because he would completely mess up the future plans of the Ram's defense. Defensive coordinator Jim Haslett has said that he wants to move to a 3-4 defense, and Dorsey is a horrible fit in that scheme.
Good article, John.

Thank You for the compliment. First off, I not happy with Haslett's 3-4 defense. You need a strong linebacking crop, and the Rams have a weak linebacking corp.
Out of the three, I like Gholston with Long being my possible second choice. I could live with either choice. Dorsey's injury problems leave me a little leary.
I think Gholston could possibly fit a 3-4 defense.
