With Extreme Rules approaching I figured I would countdown the greatest Ladder matches in WWE history. There has been some classic matches, and with WWE you know there is gonna be some flops as well. But these matches not only go down as the top ladder matches, but some of WWE's greatest matches ever.

I say it everytime with my countdown's, and I will say it again, it's my opinion so feel free to chime in with your comments and thoughts. Most of all I hope you enjoy the countdown.

5. Triple H vs. The Rock (Summerslam 1998)

With the WWE Intercontinental title on the line Triple H defeated The Rock at Summerslam in 1998. In hopes of recreating the magic of Shawn Michaels vs Razor Ramon at WrestleMania 10. These were WWE's pitting two stars on the rise very similar to Razor and HBK.

Although it didnt live up to the HBK/Razor showdown it will go down as one of the greatest ladder matches in WWE history.

A write up from Slam! sports after the event:
"Young lions Rocky (The Rock) Maivia and Hunter-Hearst Helmsley stole the spotlight from the ring veterans in a classic contest that made those watching damn proud to call themselves a pro-wrestling fan. Both gave everything they had...and then some. The cuts, bruises and sore muscles are the proof that erases any shadow of a doubt. As a promoter, you couldn't ask anything more from your talent."

4. TLC I (Summerslam 2000)

Edge and Christian defeated The Hardy's and Dudley Boyz in the first ever TLC match. The match was so great that the same participants were asked to recreate the match at WM 21.

This match forever changed WWE and made everyone involved in the match famous. This was the match that was the bar for all future ladder matches. The bar was surprisingly raised again at WrestleMania 17.

3. Razor Ramon vs. Shawn Michaels (WrestleMania 10)

What WWE claimed to be the first ever ladder match (Bret Hart vs Shawn Michaels at a house show in 1992 was actually the first WWE ladder match), Razor Ramon defeated Shawn Michaels for the WWE Intercontinental title.

This match will go down in WWE's eyes at their greatest ladder match. When it comes down to one-on-one ladder matches it will be the greatest. The storyline was just as amazing as the match itself with HBK being suspended and Razor Ramon claiming the IC belt. When HBK returned he proclaimed he was indeed still the IC champion. Genius, and the match was just as great.

2. Money In The Bank (WrestleMania 21)

Edge defeated Shelton Benjamin, Chris Benoit, Christian, Chris Jericho, and Kane in the first ever Money in the Bank ladder match.

The buzz around this match was amazing as fans wanted to see who WWE had chosen to be pushed into the main event scene. The match was like nothing WWE had done before. The MITB match was so popular it was turned into a yearly event and WWE wouldn't have made this an annual match had it not been so great.

Moves that had never been seen before were performed, risks were taken bigger than the past TLC matches, and it will go down as not only one of the greatest ladder matches, but as one of the greatest matches in WrestleMania history.

1. TLC II (WrestleMania 17)

Edge and Christian once again defeated The Hardy's and Dudley Boyz in the second TLC match.

This ladder match may never be topped. As a fan you didn't sit down during this match. The famous swanton bomb from the top of the ladder onto Bubba Dudley will be an image remembered forever.

It is hard enough to top their classic TLC match from Summerslam 2000, but they actually beat it and wrestled their way to the greatest ladder match in WWE history.
