World Football Hero of the Week: Hull's Hair-Cutting Goalscorer Tom Huddlestone

Our first hero of 2014 is a man who went 55 games and 984 days, stats via NESN, without scoring before finally ending his drought and channelling the publicity for the most noble of causes.

Hull City midfielder Tom Huddlestone always said he'd cut his hair when the goal arrived. He was as good as his word and the locks cut on the pitch were put on Ebay to raise money for Cancer Research.

That Ebay bid is currently at £6,200—see the page here

Add that to Huddleston's Justgiving page, which is now closing in on £50,000 raised, and the goal he scored against Fulham is proving the most worthwhile of 2014 so far.

Well played Huddlestone. A cut above the rest.
