Detroit cannot take another losing season. Either the Lions have a winning season or the fans themselves will burn down that darn stadium that seems to be named after some egomaniac who controls his puppet, Matt Millen. Enough of my ranting let's get to the important things like who we need to draft.
The Lions have a less then stellar depth behind their starters. So basically lets start from scratch.
Do we need a QB?
No maybe later when Kitna retires or if Drew Stanton or Orlovksy don't show an inch of talent. Kitna is a much better QB than people give him credit for. He actually knows what he is doing and I'm proud to say Kitna is the best QB the Lions have had since maybe Bobby Layne (although he did give us the curse, which you can read more about in my other article).
Do we need a RB?
YES! Tatum bell is NOT the answer. Kevin Jones was at least decent when he was healthy, he could catch and run the ball for at least six or seven games before he would get a season ending injury. This was still more productive than Tatum Bell. Nothing against him though, he seems to be at best a second string RB but his ability only shines when he has a decent LINE which the LIONS are LACKING.
Bottom Line: Millen better get a RB in either the first or the second round or our running game is going nowhere.
Do we need a TE?
The TE spot looks solid, with John Owens, Michale Gaines, Casey Fitzsimmons, Dan Campbell and Clark Harris. Come to think of it we might have too many TE's. Any who, even though they won't be like an Antonio Gates hopefully they can get the job done.
Do we need a WR?
With the one-two punch of Calvin Johnson and Roy Williams along with the hands of Mike Furrey, we may have the best receivers in the league. I seriously hope that we don't draft ANOTHER WR. If we do, I'll burn down FORD FIELD myself. You can quote me on that.
Do we need an O-LINE?
Seriously if we didn't have so many holes on our team, I would say use every pick we have on offensive lineman. Of course that would not work out too well, but the point is that the offensive line needs a change. So far nothing has been done to help alleviate the problems of which the Matt Millen seems to be purposefully ignoring. I know, I know, the offensive linemen aren't the flashiest people out there, but they are what makes an offense.
So what is the bottom line?
It appears to me that no one can understand what goes on in the brain of Matt Millen on draft day. So like every good expert does when the Lions are on the clock, start making jokes in your head and throw darts at prospective draftees. I know it sounds ridiculous, but come draft day you will see Matt Millen getting drunk and randomly calling people a-holes, then picking a kicker in the first round. We will all laugh and cry whilst Matt Millen runs his team into the ground and then.....sorry i was ranting again. But as a Lions fan, what more can I do?
In the first round or second round I want a lineman. I know we aren't getting Jake Long from Michigan (but if we trade up for him then that would make my day), but either Ryan Clady, Chris Williams or even a good Guard like Brandon Albert would give us something positive to look forward to.
A running back would also be a good option for instance, maybe Rashard Mendenhall. He is fast, quick, pretty smart and looks like a winner to me, but he has only had 200 carries more than once. So who knows if he can handle the load?
Mike Hart would also be a good pick later in the draft as a backup but I'm only saying that because I'm Michigan fan so don't count on it happening, but yet again these are our Lions we are talking about right? Jonathan Stewart from Oregon is a strong, average runner that can be a good fit for the lions, except for the problem he has getting injured, but after all who doesn't get injured in the football right?
Any who, I can't say for sure what the Lions are going to do because it's Lions logic. You can't decipher or decode what Matt Millen or Mr. Ford think so why bother right?
It's like being a Cub Fan. I have an innate feeling for a crappy team that seems to be good, but then crumbles the first chance they get.

Here is what the Lions will end up doing.
They will take a skill player with their first round pick, either a WR or a RB. I have to put WR in there b/c Millen may take one if he has him high on his draft board and even if there is no need.
Second round they will take a LB or DB (who will not pan out)
Third round- QB who they will say they are grooming to be the next starter
Fourth round - another skill player
Fifth round - a D-lineman
Sixth round - Safety
Seventh round - O-lineman. Then we will have to listen to the talking heads tell us how good the Lions drafted when we all know that the only position that we needed was an offensive lineman and we will once again have a 3-13 team. BUT HEY AT LEAST WE CAN LOOK FORWARD TO NEXT YEARS DRAFT!

The Lions are not the Raiders, Vikings, Dolphins (who are only okay), Saints (also okay), and therefore I hate them. I also hate Michigan, but this is still a great article! My (easily) pick of the day!!!!!!!!!
