The Undertaker

With the event only four months away, fans must be wondering: Just who will The Undertaker face at WrestleMania XXX?

Interestingly, per recent reports, WWE isn't even sure at this point.

As Dave Meltzer notes in this week's (subscription required) Wrestling Observer Newsletter, while the WWE may have penciled in Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker long ago, doubts are beginning to surface within the company about the matchup.

These concerns stem from Lesnar's hard-hitting in-ring style. Per this report, the currently sidelined Sheamus is a new name being thrown around for the spot:

There had been concern because Lesnar works so physical and Undertaker is in really rough shape physically that as much as the match is marketable, maybe it’s not the best thing for Taker, who is down to his final few career matches...that’s where some of the Sheamus talk came in.

Of course, if The Undertaker has his way, his foe on April 6 may be someone else entirely. As Meltzer reports, "The Deadman" has expressed interest to management in taking on Daniel Bryan at the show.

Brock Lesnar, too stiff in the ring?

Out of all three candidates, I'd go with Lesnar.

While management is justified in worrying about Lesnar's in-ring style—especially against the physically wrecked Undertaker—it's clear that Lesnar vs. Undertaker is what the fans want. Many viewers are still keen to get some closure on their infamous confrontation at a UFC pay-per-view several years ago.

Sure, Bryan vs. Taker would deliver a great match, but would it have the same appeal?

There's also the question of crowd reaction.

Would fans be willing to boo either man? The WWE would be putting the wrestlers in a difficult position. The Undertaker is a legend, and Bryan, despite ostensibly turning heel on Monday's Raw, seems to be as popular as ever.

As for Sheamus vs. Undertaker, while the Irish star is talented, it sounds like a rather boring prospect that is unworthy of one of the biggest matches on one of the biggest shows of the year.
