So this is my 2009 World Soccer XI. There's been a lot this season, and a lot of expectations.
Barcelona winning the Champions League, the La Liga Cup and the Spanish La Liga, that's amazing.
Atletico Madrid starts to shine again like last season after 11 years, thanks to Golden Boot Forlan and his partner, the amazing young talent Aguero.
Manchester winning the premier league again, Liverpool coming close. Chelsea winning the FA Cup against Everton, it was a wonderful match. Wolves winning their first Bundesliga title, a shock and a delight.
Inter, as usual, winning the Serie A and Milan now coming back with their new player Ronaldhino who didn't find much form but you never know about next season, its Ronaldinho the king of Fifa, he can be the best again in no time. Also in the addition to the young talent Pato.
Bordeaux winning the French Ligue, with as amazing performance by Benzema for Lyon.
Now there's a lot to talk about, but we will leave that for the comments.
Now I chose a formation of three defenders, two center midfielders, two wingers, one center forward, and two strikers, making it a 3-2-2-1-2 formation.
Now let's begin!
The Goalkeeper Of The Team
Yes, Van Der Sar, the reason for Man-U breaking their record of clean sheets.
He did amazing this season, blocking every shot, making amazing saves, and one-on-one performances.
Van Der Sar has been on top. The Dutch keeper has done a lot for Man-U, except for letting slip in two goals from Barcelona, he's been in top form.
The 35-year-old at this age is still being competitive to the likes of Iker or Buffon. An amazing season for him and making him the keeper of this XI.
Reasonable choices were Iker and Cech. They both did great for their team, but both did some foolish mistakes, and could not pull off the clean sheet record of Van Der Sar.
Therefore, still concluding that Van Der Sar performed better this season.
Left Center Back
Zanetti was in great form this season. He's the captain of Inter and was the sure reason to why they won the Serie A. He performed excellent in all matches with Inter and Argentina.
He did amazing crosses, like the one to Ibrahimovic against Fiorentina. He continued with excelled dribbling skills and his passing talent in every match.
He did amazing defence, and guided Inter to their win against Milan, as he secured Kaka, one of the best players in the world.
Not only did he do well as a defender, he came up as a midfielder at times and still did amazing. So that well explains, and is enough proof to show why Zanetti is in the team for his great contribution to Inter for many years, a true captain.
Center Back
I don't think this is a surprise at all: John Terry, best defender of the season. John Terry performed above expectations. He stopped every striker in his way' you name the player, Terry stopped him.
He had a brilliant performance against Liverpool in the Champions League, he took care of Torres, the biggest threat.
Liverpool was sure to win, but the captain took control. He guided his team and performed well as a player.
Terry was very supportive throughout the season. He always agreed with the coach and did the best for the team.
Terry is the Gerrard of Chelsea, but just a different position. So I easily award him best defender of the season and in this XI.
Right Center Back
Despite the hideous haircut, Johnson is the talent of Portsmouth, he is too good for Portsmouth. With amazing speed, he catches up with every striker, and stops them.
Johnson has been helpful for England, too, helping them be first in their table, he is one of the big talents for England and will help a ton at the World Cup.
Johnson was in full form this season, he did amazing defending and passing. He was always the man on the field, the guy coaches would warn their striker.
Receiving several praises by a lot of coaches, Johnson is on the hot list of transfers this season. This season was great for Johnson, and we hope he goes on to a bigger club to find bigger success and maybe a better haircut.
Center Midfield
The main reason to Arsenal qualifying for the Champions League, and the reason they went to the semifinals.
Fabregas is the biggest young talent of the world, right next to Messi. The Spanish boy will do big at the World Cup for spain; he will be the next Xavi for them with his amazing assists.
Fabregas constantly sets up Adebayor with goals, has amazing long shots, and is the perfect captain for Arsenal.
He has been amazing this season, he did some crucial goals, like the one against Aston Villa. Even against Villarreal, he did amazing assists and good defence.
His positioning is perfect, despite an injury. As soon as he returned, he made an impact.
So with no questions, Fabregas is in this XI outstanding performance.
Center Midfield
The best for Barcelona this season, no doubt. Xavi has been very good this season, he was the key player of the team, the MVP of the team no doubt.
With perfect passing and constant dribbling skills, Xavi has left every team shocked. He is the man to every one of Barcelona's wins. He always set up Eto with the passes to make him the second highest scorer of La Liga.
Even in the La Liga Cup, he performed amazing against Atletico and other teams.
The key player to the destruction of Real Madrid. Xavi was never given as much credit as he should have been given.
He is the best playmaker in the world, his passing is what will do so much for Spain; his perfect passing will be amazing with Villa and Torres.
He was the reason Barcelona won in the Champions League Finals. He did the amazing assist to Messi for the header and remained defensive for the rest of the match.
He also did a good pass for Eto again, but he failed to advance to a goal. So Xavi, with no doubt, is in this XI and is the playmaker of 2009.
Left Winger
The Liverpool Idol, Gerrard is still shining out there, guiding them to a second place finish in the premier league.
Gerrard's dedication for Liverpool makes you speechless. He was outstanding this season and every season. He moved up the supporting striker since they had no striker, as he is willing to sacrifice everything for them.
He is the sole reason why Liverpool performed amazing in the Champions League, as they beat Real Madrid so easily because of his assists and goals.
He was the reason why they beat Man-U 4-1, completely embarassing them in the process.
Gerrard helped Liverpool stay in first for most of the season, but they eventually finished second.
Liverpool's medicore team, with only three to four good players and an amazing keeper, is all they had.
But the captain made use of that and guided them to extreme success. Gerrard is the best all-arounder in the world. He can play defence, midfield, and attack, he is the best english player in the world.
So, of course, it is suspected that Gerrard will be in this XI, for his amazing success at Liverpool.
Right Winger
The future FIFA World Player of the Year, Lionel Messi.
The next Maradona or even more, Messi's dribbling skills is out of this world. He may not be as useful as Xavi or Iniesta, but when it comes to being the best, he is the best as an individual.
He's always up there scoring amazing goals, performing the best deeks, and is the fastest soccer player in this world.
Defenders and keepers are terrified of Messi, as he is the hitman of Barcelona and the top scorer of the Champions League. The 21-year-old, being three years younger than Cristiano, is already better than him.
What more will Maradona's successor accomplish?
Messi has amazing shots and the mind of a genuis. The best in form player of the season doing good every game, he destroyed Real Madrid with the help of Xavi, and also scored the out of this world header with Xavi.
Messi is the best player in this world, and he gets the job done with his amazing talent. The Argentinian is what to look out for at the World Cup and is the best player in the world. This easily includes him in the XI.
Center Foward
The former FIFA World Player of the Year is still on form. He is the main reason for Manchester United's win over Arsenal at the Champions League, with a fierce long shot and a outstanding second goal.
Being one goal off Anelka, also being a midfielder, it's a big thing for him, and this proves so why Man-U won their premier league.
Getting more goals then all strikers in Manchester, Ronaldo has been in great form and also performed his usual step over "show"—great to watch for us, not so great for the defenders.
The Portuguese hot shot has done so much for Old Trafford this season, still performing excellent at the Champions League Finals, and the only person giving Manchester some hope with a few shots and good passes.
All other matches, except for the final, Ronaldo secured the man of the match, constantly getting goals for them and constantly dribbling to success.
He's still the best player in the world to many coaches and players and a very big competition to Messi. He's someone every defender gets nightmares about.
Cristiano was, and still is, probably the best player in the world right next to Messi, which makes him a shoo-in for this XI.
Left Striker
Higuain is easily the Real Madrid player of the year, being their top scorer, and also the Argentine striker of the year for me.
Higuain made Real Madrid secure second place, despite having old partners.
Higuain is the young talent of Real Madrid and is the biggest talent of Real Madrid. He scored every crucial goal for them in La Liga, he still performed well in Champions League against Liverpool despite being destroyed.
Higuain is a future star for Real and Argentina, but still, did not get called up for Argentina.
Why isn't Maradona using him? Higuain plays with passian for Real, using his deeking skills, his amazing speed and shot power. His shots are on the dot—that's why he is in the top of top goal scorers, and if you calculate that with all leagues, he is still in the top 10.
So I can easily conclude saying that Higuain is in this XI, no doubt.
Right Striker
The Serie A top scorer has always been on form for Inter, just like this season. The Swedish striker, with his amazing shots and finishing, makes him the best striker in the world currently.
His shot power has been praised all around the world, known to have the strongest shots in FIFA.
Ibrahimovic, having grown up in a not-so-soccer-fan community (Sweden), still became a striker well enough to be compared to the likes of Rooney or Robinho.
Since coming to Inter, he is always their top scorer and always in form. Performing spectacular goals, like flip kicks, he has always impressed everyone.
Always a joy to watch is Ibrahimovic, making him in this XI of 2009.
Subsitutes
With a brilliant team, there should be brilliant substitutes. I have chosen eight subsitutes, and I will make it short for their explanation.
The substitute keeper will be no doubt be Iker, one of the best keepers of all-times. He was always on form for Real Madrid, making crucial saves and making him in this Subs.
A great defender to be put in will be Giorgio Chiellini. The Italian has again done it for Juventus, performing great defence, this man will fill up the space for Cannavaro, and will fill up the space for the Subs.
This defender is sure to be in: Puyol. He's the best defender Bracelona has, and he is always on the guys in every team.
He secured Ronaldo in Champions League, making him one of the key players in the finals and making him in the subs.
This man is considered to be the best player in the world by a lot. Iniesta, the Spanish talent, is amazing this season. I wanted to put him in but there are too many good players.
Still he is maybe the best guy at the Subs. Doing great dribbling skills, he also guided Barcelona to victory against Chelsea, making him easily in the Subs.
This Frenchmen is clearly in the subs: Frank Ribery. He's wanted by almost every big club, and his massive speed and amazing dribbles makes him one of the most dangerous players in the world.
He perfomed very well for his team although Bayern could not do much.
Despite that, he is easily in the Subs.
A striker everyone must be thinking should be in the XI: Samuel Eto. He's always the guy putting the ball in the net for Barcelona. He has found great form at Camp Nou.
Eto, being the second highest goal scorer, was always in form and is in the Subs.
Now another outstanding Frenchmen, Karim Benzema. Benzema will be the future Henry for France, with amazing skills at a young age. His amazing finishing did so much for Lyon, it gave a scare at a time to Barcelona, but Barcelona fought back in the second match. Benzema always with agression and always up there for Lyon, hopefully he will move on to a bigger club.
Now for last, probably the biggest young talent in the world, Sergio Aguero. The Maradon son-in-law has driven Atletico to Champions League yet again. They finally found success after 11 years, thanks to Aguero. This is something even Torres could not perform.
People say Aguero did not perform that good this season, but he still performed great. Giving some great assists and netting 17 goals, he is the sole reason they defeated Barcelona, Valencia, and Villarreal.
All big clubs were hard for Atletico, but Aguero always helped them against these clubs.
Not only performing well in La Liga, he did outstanding in Champions League, making him very easily in the Subs. Now all he need's to do is to go to a big club.
So I hope you like my XI of 2009, please leave comments and thoughts, hope you had fun reading it !
Captain and Manager of the Team
The captain of the team no doubt is Steven Gerrard. He did outstanding with an medicore team of Liverpool, with few good players including excellent Torres, he guided them to second place. This for surely makes him the captain. Now the manager as you can see is Alex, amazing dedication towards Manchester from this man. He has the mind of a genuis, he changed the whole team agaisnt Hull City putting in young talents and assuring a win, thats what happend. Alex has been amazing for Manchester since the start. Making him the manager of this team.
