If Mark Mulder steps on a big-league mound for the first time since 2008, he'll do it as a Los Angeles Angel. The former All-Star lefty agreed to a minor-league deal with the Angels on Jan. 1, as first reported by Jerry Crasnick of ESPN:

Mark Mulder has agreed to minor league deal with #angels with big league invite. Story to come on http://t.co/oxlrUIYoY0.

Updates from Friday, Jan. 3

From FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal:

A rival scout who saw Mulder said “it would be surprise me” if the lefty failed to contribute to #Angels

…Scout said Mulder threw 87-92 mph with good sink and good change. Added that lefty is in great shape and at 36 remains a terrific athlete.
