The 2014 Ladbrokes World Darts Championship came to a conclusion with Michael van Gerwen beating Peter Wright 7-4 in the final.

The Dutch second seed roared into a 4-0 lead at the Alexandra Palace in London, losing just two legs in doing so.

Eccentric Scot Wright hit back to take the next two before the 24-year-old from Boxtel moved 6-2 ahead.

The 21st World Championship, organised by the Professional Darts Corporation, had more twists as Wright drew within two sets before van Gerwen hit a 72 checkout to seal his first World title.
