This week's Christmas schedule promised to put a cold frost on the European rugby schedule, but the action was as hot as ever, as powers from across the continent collided like business was as usual.

Harlequins and Exeter Chiefs were clearly soaking up the added enthusiasm of their Twickenham fixture and didn't fail to entertain in the nation's capital.

Elsewhere, a certain young Welsh fly-half was caught up in a controversial hit against a close rival, while the all-Italian affair between Treviso and Zebre produced its fair share of fireworks, too.

The Top 14 threw up a few shock results this past week but unfortunately doesn't feature in the biggest hits, taking a week off to nurse their existing bruises.

With that being the case, this week's entertainment was by no means lacking in lieu of the festive period.

So get comfortable and usher the new year in with some of the biggest hits rugby had to offer from the past seven days.
