Liverpool are seemingly laser-locked on signing Derby County's talented young midfielder Will Hughes, but with manager Brendan Rodgers not ready to hand him a starting spot for the Reds just yet, they've looked to secure him for the future instead.
Alan Nixon of Mirror Football reports that Liverpool have secured a first-option deal with Derby which will give them the chance to snap up the England under-21 player before any other top clubs, when Derby decide to part with him.
The terms come under a new loan agreement for Reds defender Andre Wisdom, who will now spend the rest of the campaign at the Championship club.
Fresh from earlier reports that Egyptian international Mohamed Salah was ready to sign for Liverpool, the Liverpool Echo's James Pearce reports that no agreement has yet been reached.
The report indicates that Liverpool are prepared to wait until the summer to reach an agreement for the winger if his Swiss club are demanding too much money for a January move.

Another Barcelona player heavily linked with the Reds is wide forward Cristian Tello. The youngster has not yet forced his way into the starting lineup on a regular basis but is frequently used off the bench at his current club.
Without a goal this season as a result, Marca's Carles Escolan reports (in Spanish) that he is close to sealing a loan move to Liverpool in January.
Tello typically plays from the left of the front three, but can play right the way along that line.
The Reds have recently been linked with a move for Barcelona's wide forward Pedro, but MARCA report that he has no interest in moving to the Premier League.
Arsenal, as well as Liverpool, are said to be interested in taking him away from the Camp Nou, but the Barca man indicates he wants to stay and win a regular spot on the team. He recently scored a hat-trick and has 14 goals on the season overall.
The Reds' European scouts recommended him to Brendan Rodgers and the club is reportedly planning a bid of £7 million for the Ghanaian international.
Transfermarkt indicates that the 23-year-old is under contract until 2016.
The Reds are thought to be ready to pay around £7 million to make the Egyptian one of their first signings of the winter window.
Salah has played in the Champions League this season and is a regular scorer at the international level for his nation. He often plays from the right flank, cutting in on his left foot, though he can certainly use both feet.
