Tottenham Hotspur are striving to sign Manchester United left-back Alexander Buttner on a loan deal, according to The Mirror.

Why would United relinquish Buttner when he provides cover for Patrice Evra?

With Everton manager Roberto Martinez making it clear Leighton Baines will not be sold in the January transfer window, United manager David Moyes has no reason to get rid of Buttner.

Paulinho

Real Madrid are interested in signing Paulinho from Tottenham Hotspur, according to The Telegraph.

Spurs should ask for £30 million if Real really want Paulinho, which seems so improbable with midfield being the least of the Madrid club's concerns.

Asier Illarramendi, valued at £27 million, is not even a week in, week out starter at Real.

Also, have Real not been paying attention to Paulinho's performances for Spurs?

With the exception of the Stoke City game, he has generally been below par, either taking bad shots (two league goals from 50 attempts) or leaving holes in midfield.
