On Friday night at the Utah Olympic Oval, five speedskaters punched their ticket to Sochi in long-track speedskating.
In the men's 5,000-meter race, Jonathan Kuck won the event, which featured 19 skaters in 10 heats, with a time of 6:19.75.
The two other skaters to fill in the three allotted slots to the United States team were 17-year-old Emery Lehman (6:25.73) and Patrick Meek (6:27.90).
In the women's 3,000-meter competition, Jilleanne Rookard and Anna Ringsred qualified in the two United States roster spots for Sochi.
Rookard won the event with a time of 4:09.66 while Ringsred, who came out of retirement to attempt to qualify for Sochi, beat out Nancy Swider-Peltz and Petra Acker by just under a second with a time of 4:13.80.
On Saturday, the men's and women's 500-meter races will be contested at the Utah Olympic Oval.
