Golf World has reported that Phil Mickelson has announced that he will play in the St. Jude Classic in Memphis on June 11, after taking time off to be with his wife. Amy Mickelson was diagnosed with breast cancer and her undergoing treatment was the reason Mickelson was taking time off from the tour.
Mickelson had said on his website last week that the doctors believed they had caught his wife’s cancer early and that his wife will under surgery in late June or early July.
Mickelson, the No. 2 ranked player in the world, will use the tournament as a tune up for the US Open the following week at Bethpage in Farmingdale, New York.
