There are two great passions in my life: baseball and journalism.

As a subscriber of the Kansas City Star, each morning begins the same: with an over sized mug of coffee and the sports section.

First things first, I check out the headline. It's usually a toss up between whether it's witty or lame but I find it entertaining nonetheless.

Next, page five, and my team, the Kansas City Royals. Saving the best for last, I then read the Voices.

I favor this part of the morning. The Voices are funny, at times accurate and at others, all together ridiculous.

However, it is the Voices that have inspired me to share a favorite tidbit of mine.

To quote Tom Hanks in A League of Their Own, "There's no crying in baseball!"

Suck it up Royals fans! This is our team; this is our baseball.

Sometimes it's great plays and remarkable catches followed up with great swings that lead to leads and then wins. Other times, it is unbearable to watch. And quite frankly, brutal to endure.

It's Kansas City. One thing all fans can agree on, it's erratic.

Nonetheless, this is our baseball. Take it or leave it, literally. If it's great sports you desire, I highly recommend a relocation.

Micromanaging seems to be a beloved hobby amongst Kansas City fans.

I admit, I've had my fair share of the "Trey-hating." And I still think he's an idiot.

But Kansas City is one of the whiniest fan bases out there.

In the Voices today I read, "Same old Royals. Just a different year."

Oh, come on! Seriously?

Thus far, Zack Greinke has been phenomenal. He is simply one example to disprove "same old Royals."

The Royals will struggle. As much as fans want it, there is not one player who will save the team.

But we have potential. It's just a matter of these young guys stepping into it simultaneously that will drastically turn this team around.

This is the year that a change is gonna come. It's already in motion. It's only up from here. Royals fans, get on board.

It's time to turn all that hating into blind support because who wants to be a fair weather fan?
