Manny Ramirez is a great hitter and I respect him for that, but it's his "I don't give a crap" attitude that overtakes anything good I can say about him. Mostly everything Manny does is for himself, weather it's skipping out on the All-Star game to go to the mall with some friends, standing at home plate for five seconds watching the ball that he knows won't leave the ball park, or just walking because he's too good to hustle. In all, Manny Ramirez disrespects his teammates, fans, and everyone but himself.
Other people call it "Manny being Manny," which to me means he can do whatever he wants and people have to respect that because well, that's just how he is. But I don't care if that's how he is, he has to realize that he plays a sport that takes a considerable amount of class to be respected in.
I have great appreciation for the game of baseball and do play myself, and I have been taught throughout my years to show class and respect for yourself, the players, the fans, coaches, and everyone involved with the game. Now I don't know who taught Manny the ethics of the game or if anybody taught them to him at all but it sure seems like he doesn't care about the game.
So the question I have to you readers is should Manny Ramirez be punished for his antics? I sure thinks so.

Oh pleeease!
I think *you're* disrespectful for disrespecting Manny Ramirez!
Punished for his antics? That's funny.
Look, you either respect him for what he has accomplished or you don't, it's that simple. I'm sick of all these copycat articles about Manny, it's way overdone and quite boring. He's not on your team and you hate him, we get it.

Respecting Manny's accomplishments is one thing. I think Kyle has done that. But there's no question that Manny's "behavior" stinks to high heaven of self service and conceit. That works great in WWF, or for highly promoted boxing matches. Maybe Don King needs another client?
But really, it's past plain opinions, isn't it? Take Farnsworths' brushback last week. Does a near miss really rate a 3 game suspension? If Joe Nobody eats some dirt escaping from a high hard one, who cares? Pitcher and both managers get a warning (maybe) and it's on with the game. It's Manny's "persona" that obligates umpires to be extra wary, not his career .313 average.
I'll give Manny's accomplishments due respect when he respects the game and other professionals who've dedicated their lives to playing it.

Manny cant be punished in the way of the MLB taking action, the players have to start speaking up or rather not speaking to him at all... pitch at him if thats what it takes *note not at his head*, mr. coach terry on boston has said in the past as long as he produces he doesn't care what he does... apparently he could care less about his players being respectful.. well what more do you expect from boston i guess

The bottom line is this: Does the whole package add up to someone worthy of being on your team? If Ramirez's antics are so detrimental that he isn't good enough to play LF and bat 4th, then don't have him do that. As long as his offensive production is good enough to mitigate all of this, then that's pretty much the bottom line. If it isn't, you won't see anyone keeping Manny around for his defense, or his "clubhouse presence" like a lot of vets.
I think if the Red Sox agreed with you, Kyle, they'd DH Ramirez and put Ortiz at 1B. Ortiz isn't a completely godawful 1B--bad, yes, put better than, say, Carlos Delgado--but the Sox seem to think Manny is better in LF than Ortiz is at first. It's their call on that. Personally, I'd DH Ramirez, put Ortiz at 1B, and Youkilis in LF (also maybe Ellsbury in LF and Crisp in center while Crisp is around).

Do you tie his shoes for him too 24BN24? Cause he's such a great hitter I don't expect him to do that by himself either.. And I wouldn't want him on my team, it would be embarrassing.
