The Morehead State Eagles of the OVS head to Knoxville tonight to take on the Tennessee Volunteers of the SEC in a nonconference game between two teams looking to gain momentum heading into their respective conference schedules.
These programs have made it to the NCAA tournament a combined five times since the 2009 season, two of which were by Morehead, and the last appearance for both came in 2011. The two schools are separated by just a three-hour drive along the Kentucky-Tennessee state line.
Morehead State had lost three out of four heading into its latest contest, but it got back in the win column with a 120-83 victory over South Dakota last Thursday, while Tennessee, meanwhile, has lost two straight games. It lost at No. 10 Wichita State by a 70-61 score in a game that was close throughout, and then lost at home to NC State last Wednesday, 65-58.
The game will tip off on Monday, Dec. 23 at 7:00 p.m. ET at Thompson-Boling Arena on ESPNU.
