With one chance to do it, Candlestick Park is sent off in memorable fashion, as only the fans could've hoped. In what was supposed to be a slow football game that saw the San Francisco 49ers roll the Atlanta Falcons, the visiting team actually gave them a ballgame.
In a back and forth where the Falcons just would not die, and the Niners looked sluggish and short on momentum, both teams came out in the second half, trading blows till the end. Quarterback Colin Kaepernick found himself, and Michael Crabtree, while the 49ers defense responded in a big way.
The 49ers QB accrued nearly 250 all-purpose yards, scoring two touchdowns in this one.
But the play of the game was the walk-off pick-six by All-Pro linebacker NaVorro Bowman, who, in one play, sent the 49ers to the playoffs and made 50 years of history flash through the minds of football fans everywhere. What magic.
San Francisco wins 34-24, clinching a playoff spot and now heads into Week 17 with a chance to leap the Seattle Seahawks and enter the NFC playoffs as a No. 1 seed.
