Mestalla—Valencia, Spain

Valencia 2-3 Real Madrid

Scorers: Piatti (34'), Mathieu (63'); Di Maria (27'), Ronaldo (41'), Jese (82')

Real Madrid claimed a precious 3-2 win at Mestalla on Sunday to keep themselves in the title race.

They took the lead twice through Angel Di Maria and Cristiano Ronaldo but Valencia kept pegging them back, and it wasn't until late on, when a tame Jese shot crept in at the near post, that the three-point haul was confirmed.

Much for Carlo Ancelotti to ponder, but a win is a win nonetheless.
