Final Score: San Diego State 49, Buffalo 24
The 2013 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl started close, but it didn't end that way.
The game featured the San Diego State Aztecs (8-5, 6-2 MW) of the Mountain West Conference versus the Mid-American Conference Buffalo Bulls (8-5, 6-2 MAC).
Both teams finished the regular season schedule with a loss, but were looking to finish their seasons off with a victory today.
Only San Diego State can say they did.
For Buffalo it was a case of missed opportunities and turnovers. The Bulls came into the game as one of the best in the nation when it comes to turnover margin. However, on Saturday they had two fumbles and an interception.
It wasn't just the turnovers that doomed the Bulls, it was when they came.
On the opening kickoff of the second half, the Bulls turned the ball over to give San Diego State a short field. The Aztecs capitalized, and went on to a 35-10 lead.
At that point, the route was on.
For his credit, head coach Rocky Long had his Aztecs ready to play. They came into Boise and ran up 460 yards of offense and scored 49 points in the process. This is the fourth-straight season San Diego State has appeared in a post-season bowl game.
