Handicapping Triple H's Most Likely WrestleMania XXX Opponents
From WWE.com

The past few weeks of WWE programming have proved interesting for Triple H's potential WrestleMania opponents. Just two months ago, it appeared as if Big Show was penciled in as that guy.

Show was at odds with The Authority as part of a storyline that saw Stephanie McMahon fire him earlier in the night.

Since being reinstated on the November 4 edition of Raw, however, Show quickly fizzled out following his Survivor Series main event match against Randy Orton.

The match was poorly received by the live audience, garnering "Daniel Bryan" and "boring" chants according to the live report by James Caldwell of the PWTorch.  The WWE Corporate website (via Prowrestling.net) is only projecting 179,000 buys for the Big Four pay-per-view, down considerably from last year.

Show's swift tumble out of the main event picture since flopping at Survivor Series makes him a long shot to compete against Triple H come WrestleMania.

Odds should be set around -50. This would mean risking only $50 in order to win $100 should Triple H and Big Show meet on April 6. The odds indicate a low probability of that match happening.

A better scenario could see Triple H battle CM Punk, who has to be considered a slight favorite at the moment. In addition to Triple H, several WrestleMania opponents were teased for CM Punk by the end of the December 9 Raw. The following week, it was Triple H's name that was being called by Punk.

The exchange between CM Punk and Shawn Michaels was the most noteworthy segment coming out of this week's Raw, but it may have been done to set up a Triple H-Punk match.

According to PWInsider (via Wrestle Zone) "the reason why the company booked the CM Punk/HBK confrontation on Raw this week was so that they could save the Triple H/CM Punk confrontation for later."

This report should help establish odds in the neighborhood of -400 given its status as the current favorite.

Favorite or not, Daniel Bryan never really resolved his differences with Triple H. Despite Triple H having a hand in Bryan being screwed at Hell in a Cell, Bryan was postured out of the WWE title picture in the days that followed. Bryan currently finds himself in a feud with the Wyatt Family.

Bryan's barrage of free and pay-per-view matches against Randy Orton in 2013 make them unlikely WrestleMania opponents. Barring a potential Shawn Michaels comeback, Bryan-Triple H remains a  possibility. Odds for this encounter should go off at -300.

Both CM Punk and Daniel Bryan seem to have intertwined their problems with Triple H and Shawn Michaels. Michaels has given Sweet Chin Music to both Punk and Bryan within the past couple months. Triple H has also been involved in recent physical confrontations with each member of the short-lived Best and the Beard tag team.

Should the Best and the Beard be revived as a pairing for a WrestleMania match against D-Generation X, the odds would be modestly set at -50.

The aforementioned PWInsider (via Wrestle Zone) report mentioned "there is said to be no talk of HBK facing Punk at WrestleMania, or HBK teaming up with anyone to face the team of Punk and Daniel Bryan at the event."

Regardless of who he faces, Triple H is in a good position to be sensibly booked opposite a high-profile star for WWE's milestone pay-per-view.

It's good to be king.
