A cold and windy night at Stoke is often cited as the real test of a team.
On Wednesday night, conditions got so bad at the Britannia Stadium that the Capital One Cup quarter-final between Stoke and Manchester United was suspended for a few minutes.
The stoppage came midway through the first half and saw players and officials rush for cover as hailstones came down.
Play recommenced soon after.
