The Chicago Bears will be in Philadelphia for Sunday Night Football this week, bringing with them an against-the-spread run of 4-1 against the Eagles dating back to 2007.

Philly looks for its fourth straight home win after busting a 10-game losing skid at the Linc. The Eagles are primed for a rebound game after wetting the bed in Minnesota in Week 15.

Point spread: Eagles opened as 3.5-point favorites; the total was 55.5. (Line updates and matchup report)

Odds Shark computer prediction: 27.9-25.9 Eagles

Why the Bears can cover the spread

Chicago is in a must-win situation with the NFC North still in question. It put itself in a very good position to win the division by rallying to win last week's marathon over the Cleveland Browns and now can set its sights on an Eagles team that is in after a disappointing loss against the North's Minnesota Vikings.

Chicago has won two straight and its offense is clicking at the right time. They are also 6-1 ATS in seven visits to Philly dating back to 1982, according to the Odds Shark database.

Why the Eagles can cover the spread

Only one thing could've made the Eagles' loss to the Vikings a little easier to bear last week, and that was watching the Dallas Cowboys collapse at home to the Green Bay Packers. That left the Eagles one game ahead of Dallas in the NFC East.

Nonetheless, Philly knows it has to win ball games and head into the playoffs with steam, not backpedal its way in.

Smart Pick

Despite the aforementioned trend that favors Chicago in this series, the Bears are 1-4 as an underdog this season. This game is scheduled for the national spotlight Sunday night, which means the Linc will be rocking with the 12th man in the stands and igniting the fuel for the Eagles.

Coach Chip Kelly will make sure his team is ready here (assuming he is serious about not wanting the Texas Longhorns job) and his frenetic offense will be on its A-Game in this one.

  • The total has gone OVER in 11 of Chicago's last 14 road games
  • Bears are 4-1 ATS past five vs. Eagles
  • Bears are 6-1 ATS at Philly since 1982
  • Eagles won three straight at home after losing 10 straight at Linc
