Gil Meche delivered one of his best outings of the season on Saturday night by yielding only two runs and striking out seven Chicago hitters while going seven strong innings in the outing.

Meche had his usual stuff going Saturday night, and the White Sox lineup looked baffled time and time again.

Unfortunately, his Royal offense couldn't help him out much, and he ended up with the no decision. The Royals offensive struggles continued as they produced only three runs of offense for the game, and did virtually nothing against the Chicago bullpen near the end of the game.

A turning point in the game came in the bottom of the eighth inning when Royals catcher Miguel Olivo took Mark Buehrle's first pitch and hammered a solo homer over the left field wall to nod the game up at two. However, the good feeling for Royals fans only lasted for a short time.

In the very next inning, Juan Cruz surrendered the go-ahead run, and, then, another insurance run to the Sox. It was up to the Royals' offense to tie the game against hard-throwing reliever Bobby Jenks in the bottom of the inning.

Jenks got the first two outs before giving up a hit to Mark Teahen, and then Mike Jacobs came up. After a few more heaters, Jenks finally struck out Jacobs and Chicago preserved the victory by a score of 5-3.

The loss was especially tough for the Royals because it was their third in a row and, with the loss, they have fallen 4.5 games behind first-place Detroit.

The two teams will matchup against each other one final time in the rubber game of the series. Zack Grienke will be going for the Royals while Chicago will send John Danks to the mound.
