The Portland Trail Blazers looked to continue their early-season winning ways on Tuesday, but faced a stern test from a Cavs squad trying to get themselves back on track after a rough start to the year. Following a five-game losing streak, Cleveland had won five of its last seven, while the scorching Blazers headed into the clash with the best record in the league, having won eight of nine.
As expected, it was a battle of rising stars between point guards Kyrie Irving and Damian Lillard. Irving held his own with 25 points and 10 assists, but it was Lillard who really shined with a near triple-double and his second buzzer-beater in as many games.
Lillard sunk a three from the top of the key with tenths of a second remaining to give the Blazers the 119-116 win. He finished with a monster 36 points, eight rebounds and 10 assists. LaMarcus Aldridge chipped in with 26 points and 15 boards.
