The Los Angeles Lakers traversed the country to play the Atlanta Hawks on Monday night. After a relentless second half from the Hawks, they emerged 114-100 winners.
Al Horford put up 19 points with 11 boards, Jeff Teague tallied 17 points with 10 dimes, and Kyle Korver put up 11 points all in the second half as ATL ran away with things.
Recent returner Kobe Bryant has been thrust into dual roles with the Lakers decimated at point guard and he committed four turnovers early in the first quarter. He limited mistakes after that, but still finished with only eight points.
Pau Gasol and Jordan Hill had strong games up front, but the Hawks adjusted to them at the half. Nick Young added a game-high 23 points but the Lakers couldn't hang with Atlanta for 48 minutes.
The Lakers opened up a 54-47 halftime lead behind, but their defense fell apart in the final two quarters at the Hawks put up 67 points in a domineering performance.
