Don't worry, Los Angeles Dodgers fans. Matt Kemp and Khloe Kardashian are not dating.

It might not be the tantalizing rumor you Hot Stove hounds were looking for, but Radar Online recently posited that Khloe Kardashian, fresh off a divorce filing from Lamar Odom, was dating Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Matt Kemp.

That kind of bombshell doesn't merely sit idle; it moves like a giant snowball, picking up steam across the Internet, flashing across places like Sports Illustrated and the New York Daily News

Well, People Magazine did some sleuthing and found that we can all move along, because there is nothing to see here.

The report does note the same thing purported on Radar Online, namely that the pair have been spending a lot of time together.

People Magazine states the television star and outfielder were spotted at a gym together but also "attended a Drake concert together on Nov. 25, a John Legend concert on Dec. 1 and saw Jay Z perform on Dec. 9."

When you consider the marital tumult, it makes sense that some would begin talking about a possible romantic link. However, a source spoke with the magazine and stated, "They are just friends and have been for a long time. Khloé is absolutely heartbroken right now [over Lamar] and dating someone is the last thing she's thinking about."

The scuttlebutt of a Kemp/Kardashian pairing really took off when the Dodgers outfielder posted the following to his Instagram feed last Thursday:

That would be Kris Jenner's absurdly mammoth Christmas tree.

People Magazine spoke with another source close to Kardashian, who reiterates there is nothing romantic going on at the moment, "It could be heading [romantic] in the future, but Khloé wasn't spending time with him when she was still with Lamar. She absolutely wasn't. People need to remember that she and Lamar haven't lived together since June."

For now, we will have to live with the statement "could be heading," which will sit there and undoubtedly keep the rumor candle lit for the foreseeable future.

Kemp should feel right at home in the middle of rampant rumors. His name was bandied about so often at MLB's winter meetings that his agent, Dave Stewart, believed "something was brewing" and that a trade was in the works, per ESPN.

In the end, whether from cash considerations or a season on the mend, talks dwindled and Kemp remains in Los Angeles

Just like the brief and boisterous Kardashian rumors, all of the scuttlebutt was much ado about nothing.
