Shortly after the mow down of the Twins by rookie pitcher David Price on Saturday, the Rays made a move to better their offensive line-up by bringing up power hitting outfielder, Matt Joyce.

Joyce was traded to the Rays in the deal that sent RHP Edwin Jackson to the Detroit Tigers this fall to make room for pitchers running out of options in AAA and to allow future room for David Price in the Rays rotation.

Joyce, who had been playing right field for AAA Durham was hitting .322 with six HR's. He is expected to join the starting line-up Sunday and should receive regular playing time.

Dale Thayer, RHP, was sent back down to Durham after throwing 5 1/3 innings for the major league club.
