After facing the best in the West Sunday night and coming up just short when Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard hit a game-winner with one-tenth of a second remaining, Andre Drummond and the Detroit Pistons looked to topple the Eastern Conference-leading Indiana Pacers Monday night.
The Pacers are off to their best start in franchise history, but the Pistons were able to stifle the red-hot Paul George, holding him to 17 points on just 4-of-14 from the field. The Pacers go as George goes, and on this night, it wasn't enough.
Despite it being close through all four quarters, Detroit was able to come away with a 101-96 victory behind Josh Smith's 30 points and seven rebounds. Lance Stephenson was Indiana's leading scorer with a well-rounded line of 23 points, seven rebounds and six assists.
