A fantasy owner's job is never done. There are tweaks and improvements possible in every week.
These tweaks can be done with the idea of being a season-long move or with the hopes of getting a one-week boost.
I'm focusing on more of a one-week boost with the following three players. These guys are all a fantastic value for Week 17.
Mathieu Debuchy, Defender, Newcastle United, 4.9
Having allowed 22 goals already this season, Newcastle's defenders have not been in high demand in fantasy play. There is little reason to think that will change in the scope of the full season.
This week, however, Newcastle defenders like Mathieu Debuchy bring a little extra value. In Week 17, Newcastle will be going on the road to take on Crystal Palace.
They will face a Palace squad that has made big strides during the season after starting off the year as an embarrassment. Palace fell 2-1 to Chelsea their last time on the pitch, but prior to that, they had won two straight games.
Although Palace have been vastly improved, their attack is still not lighting up the scoreboard. Palace have scored more than one goal just twice this season.
Newcastle have been playing solid in the back and have allowed just one goal over their last two matches. All of this makes Debuchy a safe value play.
Leroy Fer, Midfielder, Norwich, 5.9
With three goals in EPL play this year, Leroy Fer isn't grabbing a lot of headlines. He has turned in a solid season, however.
He has 61 points on his fantasy season and has been in good form as of late.
Fer flashed his fantasy potential in Week 16 play, as he picked up a goal and a clean sheet. He is also averaging six points per match over his last six.
This week, he is in a great position to raise his season mark with a match against lowly Sunderland. With a bargain price of 5.9 coming along with him, Fer is an excellent option for quick and cheap points this week.
Alvaro Negredo, Forward, Manchester City, 9.3
With a price tag of 9.3, this isn't going to be a roster addition that will be easy to make. It will, however, be well worth it.
Manchester City roll into this week after their statement win by trouncing Arsenal, 6-3. That match came at home, which is not surprising since the Citizens have been amazing at home this season.
This week, they take to the road, which is troubling for fantasy owners considering they have 35 goals at home and just 12 on the road. That is of little concern this week, however. The Citizens are facing disintegrating Fulham. With 30 goals allowed, Fulham are tied for the worst in the EPL in that category.
On top of that, there are definite signs that the Citizens' road woes are coming to an end. It was just on Dec. 10 that City won as the away team against German giants Bayern Munich in Champions League play. They collected three goals in that match.
On top of all of this, the Citizens could be leaning on Alvaro Negredo's services more heavily than usual, as star Sergio Aquero is nursing a calf injury that could keep him out of action.
