English Premier League: End of a Glorious Season: Indepth Statistics!!
The end of the season has finally hit us, although there are still some quite important games yet to be played, I decided to state which team/player has performed the best over the course of the season.
Team Stats:
If we start with most goals scored/conceded so far, there are few surprises:
1. Manchester United - played 35, scored 73, goals conceded 19
2. Arsenal - played 35, scored 66, goals conceded 29
3. Tottenham - played 35, scored 64, goals conceded 58
4. Aston Villa - played 35, scored 62, goals conceded 44
5. Liverpool - played 35, scored 62, goals conceded 26
6. Chelsea - played 35, scored 60 (conceded 24)
If we then look at the most clean sheets, there are little surprises there as well:
1. Manchester United - 20 clean sheets
2. Chelsea - 20 clean sheets
3. Portsmouth - 16 clean sheets
4. Liverpool - 16 clean sheets
5. Everton - 14 clean sheets
We now move on to the disciplinary record:
1. Everton - played 35, yellow/red cards 36/3.
2. Liverpool - played 35, yellow/red cards 44/1
3. Manchester United - played 35, yellow/red cards 44/1
4. Tottenham - played 35, yellow/red cards 50/1
5. Newcastle - played 35, yellow/red cards 52/1
18. Chelsea - played 35, yellow/red cards 59/6
No surprises here I suppose. There are only two teams with a worse disciplinary record than Chelsea. They were Middlesbrough and Blackburn respectively.
Player stats:
This seasons top-scorer, as we all know but I decided to put it in anyway:
1. Cristiano Ronaldo - 28 goals
2. Fernando Torres - 22 goals
3. Emmanuel Adebayor - 21 goals
4. Roque Santa Cruz - 16 goals
5. Dimitar Berbatov - 15 goals
12. Nicolas Anelka - 12 goals
Eleven of Anelka's goals were at Bolton as he's only scored one goal for Chelsea in the league so far (of course another one in the FA Cup).
Most assists this season:
1. Cesc Fabregas - 18 assists
2. Ashley Young - 16 assists
3. Dimitar Berbatov - 11 assists
4. Steven Gerrard - 11 assists
5. Wayne Rooney - 11 assists
9. Salomon Kalou - 9 assists
Ashley Young is having the season of his career and it is to little surprise that he's up there. Chelsea's highest assists goes to Kalou and he comes in at 9th place which is quite disappointing.
The players that commit the most fouls:
1. Kevin Davies - 82 fouls
2. John Carew - 80 fouls
3. Alan Smith - 76 fouls
4. Michael Brown - 74 fouls
5. Gareth Barry - 67 fouls
52. John Obi Mikel - 37 fouls
Please note that I highlighted my team's (Chelsea), just to show what a poor season we're actually having, despite the fact we're second from the top, three points behind and in the CL semi final.
Also note that John Obi Mikel has only committed 37 fouls, which is a surprise given the reputation has been gaining around the country. 121 players have picked up more yellow cards than him. He sits 122 in the list with only 4 yellow cards to his name. He sits 44 in the list of red cards with only 1 red card this season.
