The highlight of Week 16 didn’t disappoint as Manchester City and Arsenal combined to score nine goals and give us plenty of highlights. More importantly, such high scoring probably helped your fantasy team if you had some of the relevant players on your team.

But don’t worry if you missed out on the action—here are some of the transfer targets you should consider for Week 17.

Note: All prices listed are from the Fantasy Premier League's official player list.

Luke Shaw, Defender, Southampton

The 18-year-old full-back has been playing tremendously well for Southampton, prompting a lot of interest from other clubs like Chelsea and Tottenham, according to Greg Stobart of Despite that interest from teams with deep pockets, Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino insists that the young star isn’t for sale, according to

The fact that high-profile teams have shown such brazen interest in the youngster shows how great he’s been, and how terrific he can be for your fantasy team.

He’s only going to continue to get better with more experience, and he has the benefit of playing for a Southampton defense that has given up the fewest goals in the EPL (15).

That means good things for your virtual lineup, so snap up the star for £4.8 million (which is about the fifth of the bid that Chelsea is expected to make).

Fernandinho, Midfielder, Manchester City

On the one hand, you don’t want to overreact to one game. On the other hand, Manchester City scored six goals against an Arsenal defense that had only given up 11 total goals in their first 15 matches.

Fernandinho was responsible for two goals in the 6-3 goal-fest, his first since his move from Shakhtar Donetsk. The end of the drought is a great sign for your fantasy team, and it is one of the reasons you should pounce on the midfielder right now while he costs £7.3 million.

The other reason is that Manchester City’s attack is absolutely lethalespecially at home. With so many talented attacking players, some would argue that it decreases Fernandinho’s value. While he may not score as many goals as he would on a team where he was the primary option, he’ll have plenty of chances to score and assist goals and rack up fantasy points in the process.

In addition, that potent City attack will face a Fulham side that have allowed 30 goals in 16 matches. That Week 17 game should be the perfect tonic for Manchester City’s road woes, and Fernandinho will have the opportunity to score big for your fantasy team.

Yoan Gouffran, Forward, Newcastle United

Forwards are the highest scorers in the fantasy premier league, and they come with a hefty price tag as a result. Consequently, finding a consistent striker who will get you points for a fraction of the price is invaluable.

Yoan Gouffran is one of those forwards.

Newcastle United are playing extremely well, and the attack is firing on all cylinders at the moment. Loic Remy is among the league leaders in goals, but he comes with a high price. Gouffran is a cheaper alternative that will cost you only £6.4 million.

In Week 17, the Magpies face a Crystal Palace defense that has given up 24 goals this season. Goals will be scored, and Gouffran has an excellent chance to find the back of the net (as he did in Week 16 against Southampton) or assist on a goal. Either way, he’ll get you points at a nice price.
