North Carolina 82, Kentucky 77

There is just something about the North Carolina Tar Heels (7-2) and playing in big games this season.

For the third time in the first two months of the season, the Tar Heels knocked off a ranked opponent.

This time around it was No. 11 Kentucky (8-3) who fell to UNC in their first true road game of the season.

The trio of James Michael McAdoo, J.P. Tokoto and Marcus Paige helped deliver the Tar Heels their seventh victory.

McAdoo led the way with 20 points, but it was Paige who sealed the deal late in the second half.

After making a floater, Paige found Brice Johnson on an alley-oop to ignite the crowd at the Dean Smith Center and lay Kentucky to rest.

With the victory, the Tar Heels completed the sweep of the top three teams in the preseason AP poll

North Carolina previously defeated Louisville and Michigan State in nonconference play.

Kentucky failed to receive a star performance from their standout freshman Julius Randle, who scored just 11 points and shot 3-of-9 from the field.

The Wildcats also wasted opportunities at the free throw line as they went 29-of-43 from the charity stripe.
