The Philadelphia Eagles are on a 10-2 against-the-spread run against the Minnesota Vikings, while they've covered seven of their last nine on the road. Meanwhile, Minnesota has played OVER in seven of its last nine at home.

Point spread: Eagles opened as 2.5-point favorites; the total was 51.5. (Line updates and matchup report.)

Odds Shark computer prediction: 26.3-18.2 Eagles

Why the Eagles can cover the spread

Philadelphia has the upper hand in the NFC East after the Cowboys blew a chance to stay atop the division when they lost on Monday night to Chicago. The Eagles ride into Minneapolis having won five straight, including wins over Arizona and Detroit in the past two weeks, a pair of teams that are in the playoff hunt.

The Eagles are currently riding the league’s longest win streak and own positive trends against the Vikings and as a road team.

Why the Vikings can cover the spread

While Minnesota is an odd 2-6-1 over its last nine games, the Vikings have been competitive, having covered three straight and five of their last six. Their last three games have been a tie, a win by a field goal and a loss by three points.

Minny may be catching the Eagles in a look-ahead trap, as they have Chicago on deck. That is the same Bears team that just trounced Dallas on Monday night.

Smart Pick

The Eagles are playing too good right now to lose this game, let alone let the Vikings stay close. The real story with Philadelphia this year is how well it's played on the road. The Eagles, who are 8-5 overall and 7-6 ATS this season, have won five of their six road games.

With so much at stake, and no playoff slots guaranteed, Philly will be motivated here.

If LeSean McCoy could gallop for 200-plus yards in eight inches of snow against the Lions, how much can he gain on the cozy Minnesota turf?

Eagles are 10-2 ATS past 12 games vs. Vikings

Eagles 7-2 ATS past nine road games

OVER is 7-2 past nine Vikings home games
