The Kansas City Chiefs roll into Northern California on spread win streaks of 8-2 in Oakland and 5-1 on the road. On the flip side, they're mired in losing streaks of 1-9 straight up (SU) and 2-8 against the spread (ATS) against AFC West foes.
Oakland, meanwhile, has covered four of its last five divisional games and is looking to play spoiler here.
Point spread: The Chiefs opened as three-point favorites; the total was 41, as per Odds Shark.
Odds Shark computer prediction: 29.2-15.6 Chiefs
Why the Chiefs can cover the spread
Kansas City regained its confidence in Week 14 when it snapped a three-game slide with a blowout win in Washington D.C. against the listless Redskins. The Chiefs are all but in the postseason as a wild card but still are only one game back of the Broncos in the AFC West. Kansas City is in must-win mode for the duration and cannot take Oakland lightly.
It has history on its side with an 8-2 ATS run in 10 games at Oakland.
Why the Raiders can cover the spread
Oakland never turns its back on a chance to play the spoiler role. Even though the Raiders have lost three in a row, they will look to step up for a physical game against their division rival. The Raiders haven't had a chance to breathe at home, with four of their last five on the road.
With the 12th man fired up for this one, you cannot turn your back on the Raiders, a team riding a 4-1 ATS streak within the AFC West.
Knowing how physical the Raiders can be in Oaktown and factoring in Kansas City's stifling defense, the smart play appears to be the UNDER in this game. Though the Chiefs have gone high in three straight and Oakland has gone high in five of six, the UNDER is on a 14-2-1 winning run when these two meet.
Meanwhile, the UNDER is on an 8-1-1 run when Oakland is at home.
- The Chiefs are 8-2 ATS in their past 10 trips to Oakland.
- The Chiefs are 5-1 ATS in their past six road games.
- UNDER is 8-1-1 in the past 10 Raiders home games.
- The Chiefs are 1-9 SU, 2-8 ATS in their past 10 divisional games.
- The Raiders are 4-1 ATS in their past five divisional games.
- UNDER is 14-2-1 in the past 17 meetings between the Chiefs and the Raiders.
